The owners are proposing to submit a Hybrid Planning Application to the Council.
The full planning aspect of the application will involve:
Club House
The new club house will provide improved changing and social facilities. It will provide three large changing rooms, male and female WC facilities, a spacious clubroom with bar, kitchen, lobby, plant room, and bar storage. These facilities will represent a significant and much-needed improvement to the existing club house provision. Vehicular and pedestrian access to the proposed club house will be taken from a new access point off Maple Leaf Drive, situated to the north of the site.
The clubhouse will be an attractive building with vertical timber cladding, extensive north-east facing glazing, and a standing seam metal roof. It will be located between the car park to the north and the football pitches and padel courts, ensuring strong connectivity with all sports facilities. The glazing will provide primary views from the club room overlooking the padel courts and the 11-a-side pitch.
Solar panels are proposed on the roof to enhance the sustainability of the development. The roof has been angled to the south to maximise solar efficiency, supporting clubhouse operations, sports lighting, EV charging infrastructure, and helping to reduce overall running costs.
Padel Courts
Three padel courts are proposed, located to the north-east of the club house. The padel courts will provide the local community with an additional sports facility that is not currently available within the area.
The courts will be constructed using metal mesh panels with toughened glass rebound panels and will be covered by a canopy incorporating overhead lighting. This design will enable year-round use of the facilities.
The new access off Maple Leaf Drive will be used to access the padel courts.
Reconfiguration of Pitches
The playing field land will be reconfigured and enhanced as part of the proposed scheme. The reconfiguration of the playing fields will improve connectivity with the club house to the north, including the club house, padel courts, and parking areas.
The scheme will provide a total of 52 car parking spaces to support the football pitches and padel courts. Of these, six spaces will be equipped with EV charging facilities, enabling visitors to charge their vehicles while using the site. Three accessible parking spaces are also included within the car park. In addition, four cycle parking spaces are proposed to encourage sustainable modes of travel.
The vision is to provide a distinctive and high quality place that respects and enhances the qualities and character of the site, provides 40% affordable homes that meets local housing need, provides high quality, and ensures connectivity with the existing local community.
The residential development will create up to 38 residential plots within a walkable neighbourhood, with access to a number of local facilities and services. The range of homes to be provided will meet the needs of the area, whilst respecting and enhancing the local character of the area.
